Ramprasad Ki Tehrvi – the unpaid responsibilities

  1. Ramprasad Ki Tehrvi is a 2019 Hindi movie written and directed by Seema Pahwa that talks about the death of an elder in the family which exposes the true colours of the members.
  2. Ramprasad (Naseeruddin Shah), a musician dies at his old age leaving his wife (Supriya Pathak) alone at the house. His 4 sons and 2 daughters arrive for his funeral along with an army of other members. There is sadness all over the house but not everyone is serious about this matter. The grandchildren are playing and enjoying themselves. The 4 sons are drinking and talking about how much they hate their parents. The daughter-in-laws are fighting with their eldest one, while the daughters are fighting among themselves. The family is stressed out when they come to know about the unpaid loan that their father took from the bank. When they confront their mother regarding this, she presents them with an account book that has the details of the money that Ramprasad loaned out to his children. They are not able to conclude who will pay what. There is also confusion regarding who will look after their mother now. The day comes when everyone packs their bag and leaves to mind their own business. The mother decides to convert the house into a music school which will help her in repaying the loan.
  3. The movie has touched on the true reality that happens in the majority of the houses. Parents look after their children till no time whatsoever and then when it comes to children to do the same, the busy work life makes them ignore the responsibilities.
  4. The writing and direction by Seema were true to the point and the acting by the cast was also very natural. This ensemble of the cast is truly one of the best in the Hindi movie industry with such talented and natural actors. The climax was truly surprising, otherwise, the movie is moving at a normal pace.
  5. The movie has truly focused on every character and was able to highlight the problems that they were facing. Even the maid who comes for 2 mins on the screen is given enough recognition. The location and the people connect you to to the true Indian culture.
  6. The movie has also focused on the illicit relationships and one-sided love that happens within a family. Youngblood is volatile and takes decisions that in the long run can ruin very old and important relationships. Infatuation can never be called true love.
  7. It is very common for siblings to be jealous when the other one receives more love from parents. But it’s only a matter of time when these feelings dissolve, as they were childish. But the ones who carry forward this are surely gonna create a crack in relationships.
  8. The most unsure thing is about what to say when you visit a house where death has occurred. Hearing the same question and repeating the answer and explaining to everyone how the person died is tiresome and something that cannot be avoided.
  9. A critically acclaimed movie that is truly Indian.
  10. A one time watch and I say it’s HOT.
