Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro – hum nahi honge kamyab

  1. Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro is a 1983 Hindi movie directed by Kundan Shah that talks about two individuals’ failed attempts to curb corruption.
  2. Vinod (Naseeruddin Shah) and Sudhir (Ravi Baswani) are two struggling photographers who are one day offered a job by investigative journal’s editor Shobhna (Bhakti Barve). She assigns them a job to expose corrupt builder Tarneja (Pankaj Kapur) and municipal commissioner D’Mello (Satish Shah). Another corrupt builder and Tarneja’s rival, Ahuja (Om Puri) also comes into the picture. Both the builders bribe D’Mello for a flyover construction contract. D’Mello fools both of them and gives the contract to a third person. Tarneja kills D’Mello, and this accidentally gets photographed by Vinod. Vinod and Sudhir are able to find the body so that they could create a case against Tarneja but end up losing the body. They inform Shobhna but are disappointed to find that she was trying to make a deal with Tarneja for money. The deal does not go through as Tarneja double crosses by attempting to kill her. Vinod and Sudhir find that the body is with Ahuja, so they reach his house and run away with the body. A comical chase for the body starts, involving everyone. The cops finally arrive to arrest Tarneja, but he buys them too and eventually, Vinod and Sudhir are arrested.
  3. The movie is a brilliant take on the corruption that resides in every corner of society. Without hurting anyone and using a satirical touch, the message was clearly out in the open that will be used for many years.
  4. The acting by the cast was outstanding, but some areas clearly showed the voice-over timing gaps. Even in the burqa scene, you could easily catch up and tell that majority of them were men. The director did miss out on the minute things.
  5. The comedy was good, especially the last Mahabharat scene. Bringing Akbar and Anarkali into it was one of the best ‘LoL’ moments. But in some scenes, due to the generational gap, you may not feel it funny.
  6. The movie was made on a lighter note that even the murder and the dead body scenes will feel like nothing to be serious about. But by the end, you also will have empathy with Vinod and Sudhir, who could not fight corruption at any cost.
  7. Corrupt builders are not a new thing now as many reputed ones are fighting cases in court. The cases are filled by the customers, environmental activists, by the government for illegal construction.
  8. The other bests scene was the fake romantic scene between Shobhna and Vinod. Their dialogue delivery, emotions and acting were just pure bliss where you will for one moment forget that it is all fake because that real it was.
  9. A critically acclaimed movie that, remains a cult classic till now.
  10. A many-time watch movie and I totally enjoyed it.
