  1. The Town is a 2010 American movie directed by as well as starring Ben Affleck that talks about real-life inspired bank robberies in Charlestown.
  2. Doug (Ben Affleck), Jem(Jeremy Renner), Gloansy and Dez who work for crime lord Fergie rob a bank wearing masks. They take Claire (Rebecca Hall), assistant manager as a hostage but release her later. Claires’ license is left with the gang, which Doug decides to handle. He follows Claire, makes friendship and slowly they fall in love, without she knowing any of his details. Here, the FBI team lead by Agent Adam ( Jon Hamm) are able to identify the 4 culprits but are waiting for some evidence to catch them. The gang carries out another robbery through which they barely escape from being caught. Adam reveals the secrets of Doug to Claire after he finds about their affair. The gang carry out their last robbery at a baseball stadium. FBI gets to know about this through Doug’s ex-girlfriend Krista (Blake Lively). Except for Doug, everyone gets killed. Doug hides some money for Claire and escapes to Florida.
  3. The story is said to be inspired by real-life incidents that happened in Charlestown, Boston. The robbery scenes looked realistic, unlike some Asian movies which go beyond imagination to ruin the reality.
  4. The acting by the cast was good with Jeremy Renner being nominated in the Best supporting actor category for the academy awards. The direction, as well as the stunt direction without any extra VFX, also deserves appreciation.
  5. The movie has highlighted the sleeper cells of robbers who live within our vicinity and live the lives of 2 personalities. The day and night behaviour of theirs helps them to evade their neighbours and cops for long without being caught.
  6. The use of technology in recent times has helped many high profile robberies to take place in various parts of the globe. A hacker or an IT person in your team can mint millions in your pocket with the help of the internet and a computer.
  7. The movie focused more on human emotions, relationships and romance as compared to showing robbery scenes. The minute robbery scenes were impactful but were not stretched as the other scenes were.
  8. As the movie was inspired by real-life incidents, the actors spent their time with some local robbers and residents in order to get into the character. It is really interesting to watch the FBI solve the crimes with their resources and sources.
  9. A critically acclaimed movie with good box office collection also.
  10. A must watch and I give 7.5/10.
